Today’s massive fashion designer crush is Kimberly Ovitz. Having done stints at J. Crew, Chanel, Imitation of Christ, Ya Ya Clothing, and Twelth St by Cynthia Vincent, she launched her own line in Spring 2009. And she’s my age…! I’m head over heels for her gorgeously sophisticated, somewhat androgynous minimalist silhouettes.

Am also seriously considering these pieces from her inaugural Spring 2009 collection, though honestly, by the time I make up my mind, they probably won’t be in stock anymore. Which do you think is the most investment worthy? Am quietly leaning towards the insanely comfortable looking wrap jacket, but I have a terminal weakness for motorcycle jackets and unique pleating.

Honestly, I want all 3 pieces in a sad, terrible, my budget-can’t-support-it-and-I-just-paid-off-car-insurance kind of way. Technically I’m on shopping ban. Dance studio fees to pay, airplane tickets to buy… sigh. Check both of Kimberly Ovitz’s 2009 collections here.

Going to be keeping an eye out for a vintage purse, boots, and jacket I can DIY stud up in similar style. There’s something pretty ridiculous about that fluffy leather jacket, but I also kind of love it- a little theatricality to keep you warm when the weather gets cold. paul & joe fall 2009

August can’t come fast enough, as I’ve gone completely mad for this beautiful little leather dress from Paul & Joe’s Fall 2009 RTW collection. I’ve been debating for a long time getting a tattoo on my back similar to this design (minus the studs, head, and tail) and was pretty delighted to see something similar to the aesthetic I want on the back of a lovely little dress- I’d get the design without the permanence and needles! Well, honestly, I’m still considering the tattoo, but the dress is really right up my alley.

I’ve never really paid that much attention to Paul & Joe’s collections before, and was surprised to have this dress completely bowl me over from the pages of French Vogue. Having lived in multiple Asian countries, I really know Paul & Joe more as a popular luxury cosmetics label famous for their frankly exquisite packaging:

I own Paul & Joe makeup but no Paul & Joe clothing. Fall 2009 might make me change that, though…
