I’ve loved this jacket ever since I slipped it onto my shoulders in the French Connection store at Santa Monica Beach. Sure it’s a bit marching band, a bit Micheal Jackson. But it nips nicely at the waist and echoes faintly of that infamous Balmain jacket without being one of its myriad copies. I also love the weird tulip way this $5 vintage dress falls between the knees in front; a small treasure divulged from digging in the messy pit of one of San Diego’s Goodwill stores. I tried putting that fallen flower back onto the bush afterwards, as if it’d never fallen in the first place. I was not successful.
